David Johnston - first day in Parliament

new MPs

Yesterday I had the surreal experience of my first day in parliament, ending with all 109 (!) new Conservative MPs meeting the PM.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped to get me elected by delivering leaflets, knocking on doors or just talking to people you know. We were the last party to select a candidate and we had only a month until election day, but the end result was better than all the polls predicted - thanks to your hard work. I am incredibly grateful for all the time you gave up to help me.

It is a complete honour to be the MP for Wantage and I look forward to making the constituency my home and being an effective advocate for all of my constituents, whether they voted for me or not.

Merry Christmas.
